Success Story of a Resued Kitten

tibby

Imagine spending all of your life hobbling around on two knees. Imagine trying to run after your brothers and sisters but not being able to keep up with them. Imagine trying to climb up the bed skirt but unable to do so because your feet just won't cooperate.

Tibby was born to a stray cat who was rescued just days before she was to give birth. The stray mother, who we named Cleo, was weak and very undernourished when she gave birth to seven kittens. Tibby would not have survived if she had been born in the wild. With Cleo's poor health when she gave birth, probably one or two others would not have survived either. But, thanks to loving and caring people, all of Cleo's kittens survived, even Tibby.

Tibby is typical of animals who would not last more than a few days in the wild. But we could not give up on this little darling who wouldn't give up on life. There was just something so special about her. Life from the beginning for Tibby was one of love and trust. For Tibby life has been one big adventure. She was the first one to climb from her nest. She was the first one to crawl to us. She was the first one to play with a toy. She was the first one to eat solid food. And, she was the first one to use a litter box. Her life so far has been an endless journey of love and innocence. And perhaps this is why anyone who has ever met her has fallen in love with her.

Tibby's love of life is an inspiration to us all. Life is not just about getting to a certain destination but the road we take to get there. Whether we hobble on two knees or walk on two feet, the journey should be one of kindness and compassion. Being kind toward animals will make the world a better place for all of us. Tibby will never know pain and sadness and with your selfless generosity, we can try to help more cats like Tibby and her mom.

The Story of Tess

Tess is a black and white wisp of a cat. She is kind and gentle but not quite able to ever relax. She loves to curl into out laps late at night when all the world is quiet. You see Tess was abused by a human. One day in the spring of 2002 we received a call from a desperate woman who through her crying begged us to come and get her cat. She as well as her cat were abused by her husband. She herself was not ready to leave but she could no longer bear to see her cat be abused. We rescued Tess and asked the woman to seek help. There was nothing more we could do for her but we could take her cat. We never heard from her again. Tess feared us so much at first. For six months she hid in a corner. She must have come out to eat during the quiet of the night when she felt safe. After six months she started to trust us, even letting us pick her up. Never feeling totally secure, Tess always squeaks whenever someone tries to pet her. She loves to be petted and graciously accepts the gesture after her squawk. Please help us to save more cats like Tess. There are so many with a story like hers.
